Established in 2014, Calvin Company believes leadership development should be uniquely designed to be inclusive of past experiences of those participating in the development and that the lens of which the curriculum is developed should be through that of inclusion and equity. We believe this for several reasons:

Each individual brings unique experiences and perspectives, and acknowledging and valuing these differences can help to create a more inclusive, safe and supportive environment.

Personalization

Our Value

We concentrate on leadership development for early-career through senior executive professionals who value diversity, equity and inclusion, by using our custom approach to instructional design and delivery, ADDIE+ enhanced  by considering culture. We apply sound instructional design and delivery, and in doing so identify the audience for program to develop the training with their specific experiences and strategies of future success. What was once considered the standard approach to development was designed and delivered through one lens and we know this is outdated and ineffective. 

Our team designs and delivers programs, utilizing the best research-based models, frameworks, strategies and methods and then seeing them through the lens of all program participants to provide the most distinctive learning experiences imaginable.

Our Approach

Our approach to learning is to create a safe and engaging space that captures the learner’s attention and motivates them to actively participate in the learning process. We find this type of approach encourages learners to be curious, ask questions, and explore new concepts in a meaningful and enjoyable way that enables them to apply their learning at work immediately. Some characteristics of our approach to learning include:

Active learning

Typically involving hands-on, interactive activities that require learners to actively participate in the learning process. This may include group discussions, simulations, role-playing, and problem-solving activities.

Relevant content

Learning is more engaging when the content is relevant to the learner’s interests, experiences, and goals. Our approach to learning includes content that is relatable and applicable to people of color’s life.

Feedback and assessment

When creating a safe space to learning we provide learners with regular feedback and assessment opportunities to help them gauge their progress and identify areas for improvement. This can help learners stay motivated and engaged in the learning process.

Personalization

When considering our approach to learning we take into account the individual needs and learning styles of each learner. Personalization may involve providing learners with choice in how they learn, adapting content to their level of understanding, and providing personalized feedback and support.
